Ken,
I
already bought a Gladius, and other members of the security
team I work with have as well. There was some arguing about
whether the strobe feature really necessary, concerns about
inducing epileptic seizures, the need for ANOTHER $$$ flashlight,
none of which I really cared for because I was going to buy
the damn thing regardless. I've had to conduct building searches
solo at night, I've had to put up with idiotic 'no you can't
do that he's just a child' BS when referring to a 200 lb. 17
year old assault suspect - I've already bought into the 'light
as a force option' paradigm.
Now
that we've had the lights for a few months, EVERYBODY agrees,
the damn things are damn useful. I was able to reduce my loadout
to two lights, the Gladius and a Sureifre M3 for punching through
tinted glass on cars and distance work. The bright momentary
light is good, having channel 1 programmable (mine is set at
'remember last setting' and set at a fairly low level for admin
type work), and the strobe is everyone's favorite. Intoxicated
people seem stunned by the strobe, and their immediate reaction
seems to be throwing up of the hands in front of their faces,
which is perfect. I've taken to calling the deployment of the
strobe on a subject as 'neuralizing' him, after the device from
the movie "Men In Black" (you know, using the flashy
thingy on people. Comedic referances aside, the result seems
to be the same, interruption of the subject's OODA loop.
I'll
forward the email to other team members so they can relate their
experiences to you directly. You have a terrific product and
I can't wait to see what's next. How about something the size
of a Gladius, optimized to work like a Turbo headed M3, called
the Spatha (or perhaps Pilum would be more appropriate)???
Thanks,
Ansel

Dear

I
just wanted to let you know that i now have had the gladius
for 3 months and i just love it !!! I have been staying in Guatemala
and there the lights go of very often and having somthing to
light up the world is nice.
I
also had to use the strope one time when some guys wanted my
money -- they got totaly Blinded and i could get away running.
A
great legal self defence weapon i was also very supriced how
long the battery last. Now i am going back to Iceland and i
have to see how well it works in extreme cold. Keep
up the good work!

Dear Mr. Good,
I am writing to you in reference to the Gladius Night-Ops light
that I received a week ago. I work as Police officer for Las Vegas
Metropolitan Police Department out of the South Central Area Command
which is responsible for the Las Vegas "Strip." I first
came across your light at the Shot Show 2005. I had the opportunity
to meet Sgt. Rod Schaeffer. Rod was very courteous and very excited
about your product. I went to the show multiple days and he continuously
took the time to explain the concepts behind the light and its
use in police and tactical situations.
I personally feel this is the finest light that has ever been
produced. I brought it to work (graveyard) last week and immediately
the reception from my coworkers was astounding. I showed them
the multiple settings especially the "strobe" feature
which is what I use 80% of the time. I could not wait to put the
light to work. I used the light all night on multiple car stops
and the drivers of the vehicle told me the strobe effect made
them completely disoriented and temporarily blinded. After I heard
that I knew this was the best and brightest light on the market.
During the night I conducted multiple persons stops and immediately
deployed the light in the "strobe mode" which gave me
the ability to close the gap between me and the suspect almost
instantaneously without the suspect knowing what just happened.
This is the clearest most visible light that any of my coworkers
or I have ever seen.
You know its a great light when you have suspects telling me "wow"
I COULD NOT SEE ANYTHING!!! This light will definitely save a
police officers life one day.
So in closing you have hit the mark with the Gladius it is head
and shoulders above any other product and all of my partners want
a Gladius....
Thanks
again
Police Officer

I just wanted to write and say how pleased
I am with my new Gladius light!
It
is truly a revolutionary illumination tool.
Currently I own almost 2,500 dollars in personal and weapons mounted
Sure Fire lights, including two LED lights. (A-2 and L-4)
I
no longer use those for daily carry as the Gladius does things
the SureFire lights only dream about.
Thank
you for coming up with a great product.
I
will be recommending them to the almost 10,000 students that we
see here at Front Sight each year.
Respectfully.

Hello,
My name is Jim Aham. I'm a cop in NH. I recently purchased one
of your Gladius flashlights. I have to tell you, I LOVE THIS FLASHLIGHT!
I did a lot of research on the Internet before buying one. I read
a bunch of reviews which talked about the functions of the light,
pros and cons for the light, and possible improvements. Some of
the reviews made it sound like it was difficult to activate the
switch on the light or that it was very tricky to replace the
tail cap correctly after replacing the batteries.
When I got the light and had to put in the batteries, I found
it to be a very simple procedure. Even if I hadn't read the instructions,
I'm sure I would have figured it out on my own. I found the switch
extremely easy to activate in all channels.
I was messing around at work and using the strobe feature on a
few co-workers and found it to be very useful for distraction
and momentary disorientation. I love the fact that I can adjust
the light level of this light! The person or persons responsible
for coming up with this flashlight are genius!
I have bought several flashlights over the years to include Streamlight
and several of Sure Fire's top of the line flashlights! While
those lights are OK, they do not even come close to the Gladius.
And unfortunately, I spent a lot more money on some of my SureFire
flashlights and their customer service is terrible!
Keep up the outstanding work!! |

To:
Blackhawk Tactical
From: Officer Ryan Allen
Date: 04/05/2006
Time: 0346 Hours
Ref: Gladius Light
On
04/05/2006 at 0346 hours I took part in a tactical entry into
an apartment in order to affect an arrest on a male suspect. The
male suspect had located and assaulted his soon to be ex-wife
at her friend's home. The male suspect kicked in the back door
of the house and subsequently assaulted his ex-wife. The male
suspect fled on foot to his apartment and barricaded himself in.
Officers from three separate agencies arrived on scene to assist
in the entry and the investigation. The area in question was an
extremely run down and a close quarters environment.
I
was third in the stack of the entry team. I immediately deployed
my Gladius Night Ops flashlight and my Glock Model 22. Upon dynamically
entering the apartment I searched my area of responsibility with
my Gladius operating in full strobe mode. I located a room
in which the door was shut and secured. I re-holstered my Gladius
in order to open the closed door with my left hand. Once the door
was open I entered and cleared the room with my cover officer.
At
this time I entered the living room where another officer stated
he had contact. I observed a large male standing in a separate
bedroom. The primary officer began giving the male suspect verbal
commands in which he completely ignored. Knowing these types of
situations can quickly escalate out of control, I decided to strobe
the male suspect in the facial area with my Gladius. The male
stated, "What the hell is that," while covering his
face and stumbling backwards. While the male suspect was completely
disoriented by my Gladius, an officer was able to take the male
suspect into custody.
After
this event was completed several officers approached me and inquired
about my Gladius. I received a lot of positive comments about
the Gladius and its functions. One Officer stated the Gladius
was the best idea in a flashlight he had ever seen. Several of
the officers are veteran SWAT Operators who also have a military
background. Needless to say everyone was very impressed with the
performance of the Gladius.
